THE KICK-OFF It all began in Wichita, Kansas on November 24, 1992 when Wallace and Rachel (Boyd) Austin celebrated the birth of a smiling, baby boy.

This son was named Courtney Deon Austin. Courtney received his education in Wichita, Kansas attending Stucky Middle School, before graduating from Wichita Heights High School on January 26, 2012, shortly before his passing—Class of 2012. During his time at Stucky, Courtney received the “99 Percent” award.

He was also a proud manager of the Wichita Heights High School football team for 2 years. HALFTIME In Wichita, while growing up Courtney accepted Christ into his life and became a member of the Greater Mizpah Church. He was a faithful member and served in the Youth Department.

Courtney loved sports. He was a fan of the Texas Longhorns basketball team and Pittsburgh Steelers football team.

THE VICTORY On Thursday evening, January 26, 2012, the lights of Heaven shined a little brighter as the Lord welcomed Courtney Deon Austin home. He was met at Heaven's gates by his grandfather, Clifford Austin; great-grandparents, Raymond and Calmary Martin; his uncle, Melvin L. Martin; his aunt, Rae Boyd and his cousin Sheena Boyd. Courtney’s smiling face automatically shines down from above. “1st quarter, he’s smiling, 2nd quarter, he’s smiling, 3rd quarter he’s smiling, 4th quarter he’s smiling! It's overtime. . . and Courtney is still smiling! Now, the whole world smiles with him. Those that wait on the Lord; his parents Wallace Austin of Biloxi, Mississippi and Rachel (Boyd) Austin of Wichita, Kansas; his siblings, Ashlie Edwards and Christopher Boyd of Wichita, Kansas and Chasity Austin of Columbus, Georgia; along with a caravan of other family members, the Mizpah Church Family, Teammates and friends who will forever cherish his wonderful memory.

The hour of remembrance for Courtney will be on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mark UMC.

You may visit Courtney, as he slumbers in peace at the Biglow-Bethea Funeral Home on Friday February 3rd, 2012 from 1pm-5pm with a Wake to follow from 5PM until 7PM.
